From The “You Never Know Who Is Watching” Department
Friends, neighbours, family members and colleagues (past & present) recently celebrated a milestone birthday of Lynda Silvester, Strong Start® Executive Director. In recognition of the positive impact the Strong Start® literacy project has on the community and Lynda’s creation of it, the following guests made generous donations:
- Joan & Leo Doodchenko and family
- Irene Palmer and family
- Jack & Gerry Koppejan
- Jan & Paul Dullaert
- Doneen Silvester and family
- Kim & Mike Heathcote and family
- Dr. Nelson & Kathy Cheung
- Maureen & Bev Kay
Having these people at the party made it a special occasion for Lynda. Their moral and financial support of Strong Start® took the event to “overwhelming”.
On another occasion, Charlie Davis thought about funding while he was attending training sessions to become a Volunteer Coach for Alpine School’s Strong Start® program. Charlie took the initiative to be instrumental in getting his service club to donate to Strong Start®. Our thanks to the Lions Club of Kitchener for joining our effort as a new sponsor.
Jim Inch, owner of Concept Now Video Productions, has been very involved with Strong Start® from its early days. He produced both editions of our Training and Promotional videos at a greatly reduced price. As if that wasn’t enough, Jim and his wife Maureen, have also made a personal financial donation to the project! They certainly can take credit for making major contributions to assuring that Strong Start® is a program of excellence.
These new donors are examples of how people from different groups and in different settings all take note of the achievements of Strong Start® and its power to enrich the lives of children, their families and the many people who choose to volunteer in the program. They then take action to sustain these successes!
