Strong Start’s vision is a community rallying around its children with its time and treasure to help them learn to read.  With Rotary International’s commitment to supporting education, we are honoured to call the Rotary Club of Brantford-Sunrise true partners in our cause.

Along with providing financial support, some members even give their gift of time as volunteers in our Letters, Sounds and WordsTM program. Joe Persia, a former Volunteer Coach and member of the club shared these quotes with us:

“You would never think that over a 10-week period you would develop such a strong rapport with a couple of little ones, but I can tell you, it does happen. Over the course of my 10-weeks volunteering, we did grow very fond of seeing each other and it was nice to see the looks on their faces when I arrived at the door.

The Strong Start program itself aligns very nicely with the Rotary International Pillars of Service, one of which is literacy. So when we as Rotarians participate in a program, as supporters or coaches within the school, we are doing our part in our community as well as feeling like we are a part of a much larger service organization. We feel that tie to Rotary International as well.”

Each year the Rotary Club of Brantford-Sunrise engage in various fundraising activities like the Trip-of-the-Month Draw, Gala Auction Dinner and Fish Fry, to help support important community needs. To learn more about the Rotary Club of Brantford-Sunrise, we invite you to visit their website.

Our thanks to each and every member for their continued support of Strong Start. We truly are better together!
