From our family to yours, we hope you have a very Happy Halloween!

We extend our sincere appreciation to all teachers, partners and donors for celebrating literacy and Halloween by sending us tweets. Because “learning to read is never scary, when you’re a Strong Start school.”

Here are a few photos from Halloween school celebrations.

We’re also incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity of Niamh and Maisie who sold pumpkins in support of the Letters, Sounds and WordsTM program in Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk. These two young ladies wanted to give the gift of reading to more young children.

Here’s their story.

“Niamh and Maisie’s Grandparents live in Waterford and decorate their home every October for Pumpkinfest. When it’s over, their Grandparents drop off the pumpkins at our house, and the girls set up shop on our front lawn to sell these pumpkins for charity. Last year, they donated to the Safety Village, and this year, they would like to donate the $127.00 they raised to Strong Start.

Thank you Niamh and Maisie for being such inspirations to all of us!
