Thirsty animals stop at a water hole for a much needed drink. As more and more animals come to drink, the water hole gets smaller and smaller, until it disappears. A story about diminishing water that even the youngest child will understand.

Child aged 4 to 8 Book: Community Soup by Alma Fullerton

A story of a community’s children coming together in front of a school house, to make soup with the help of their teachers. With all the vegetables grown in a garden, the soup feeds everyone in the community. A great book to inspire discussion with your child about different ways of life.

Family Activities

  • Donate food and canned goods to the Food Bank.
  • Bake cookies together and donate to someone in need, or provide snacks to a shelter.
  • Divide a non-perishable, healthy snack into 7 little containers, so you can have some each day.
  • Share your favourite snack with a friend or family member.
